Really enjoyed this, Bernadette. Wonderful use of stories to illustrate your points. I agree that the power lies in being able to influence and change the way people feel, not the way they think. I’ve found, however, that many companies are afraid to tackle the former and feel more comfortable with the latter. They think it’s safer to stick to facts and figures, when what really moves buyers is stories, ideas, and being able to connect on the level of values, not features.

Aww.…Bernadette — if it were possible for me to love you any more, well.…it’s not. This was fabulous and I loved when you said “you can’t change the world with your idea in isolation — you need to bring people along with you.” This is truly what makes an idea matter — the fact that people and hearts and emotions are attached to that idea.     Haha. I actually understand that. I used to be a song leader a few years back, and they had a timer on the back wall. I always HATED that — I hated being held to someone else’s agenda when I have something to say. lol.…
